While I wanted to know what happened and the suspense built up, I didn't find this an easy book to follow。 Almost too many characters and a complicated plot。 Not a relaxing read and I often had to flip back to work out who was who and what was happening。 Some of the characters were true to life - like Past President Dunn - and sadly you recognize that the situation in the book, could all too easily happen。 While I wanted to know what happened and the suspense built up, I didn't find this an easy book to follow。 Almost too many characters and a complicated plot。 Not a relaxing read and I often had to flip back to work out who was who and what was happening。 Some of the characters were true to life - like Past President Dunn - and sadly you recognize that the situation in the book, could all too easily happen。 。。。more

Don't miss STATE OF TERROR, it's all Louise Penny, and a touch of one of her famous characters from her other novels, and yet, Hillary Clinton's voice is strongly heard throughout the tale。 。。。more

Not nearly as good as Louise Penny’s usual stuff。 And as much as I like Joan Allen as an actress, her narration did not do it for me。 I enjoyed this more when reading the kindle version。 Meh。

Though my dad loves this genre, and I love thrillers in general, I don't naturally gravitate to political thrillers。 Clinton and Penny's fabulous partnership has fostered an exhilarating nail-biter interspersed with some light-hearted and amusing moments。 Fans of Louise Penny will also appreciate the Eager eggs she tucked away in this work。 I thoroughly enjoyed this exhilarating "what if?" scenario, and it did end in such a way where I feel like a sequel is inevitable。 Even though it was nearly Though my dad loves this genre, and I love thrillers in general, I don't naturally gravitate to political thrillers。 Clinton and Penny's fabulous partnership has fostered an exhilarating nail-biter interspersed with some light-hearted and amusing moments。 Fans of Louise Penny will also appreciate the Eager eggs she tucked away in this work。 I thoroughly enjoyed this exhilarating "what if?" scenario, and it did end in such a way where I feel like a sequel is inevitable。 Even though it was nearly 500 pages, I cranked out 70 pages a day because it was just so easy and enjoyable to fly through this one。 。。。more

Yeah, we haven't seen that before。 In the political discussions, I will be honest, being an Indian, I did quite enjoy the Pakistan bashing by the authors quite a bit。 Moving on, there is some unnecessary romance in the book, unnecessary for me , but if you are a swoony head, umm, sorry, "romantic at heart", you might like it and might yearn for more。 So here's the thing, as a fictional thriller, this thing is awesome。 But i personally do not agree with the politics of the book。 But who knows , you might。 Oh and one more thing, i like the fact that the book celebrating women’s support of one another later in life and that it had such strong female characters , which we rarely do in political thrillers, and I was moved by the authors’ notes paying tribute to Betsy Ebeling, one of Clinton’s oldest friends, who died not so long ago and was an inspiration for the character of Betsy Jameson。 Overall , as a thriller , i will definetely reccomend the book。 The link is in the description , if you do decide to get it , consider purchasing from here it helps the channel out。 This video was made possible thanks to Pan Macmillian India , who provided the media copy , BUT the publisher nor the authors have had any editorial input into or even an early preview of this content ,nor did they provide any compensation in exchange for this production。 Until next time。 Keetabi Keeda。 。。。more

A page turner The collaboration of Clinton and Penny worked very very well。 I could hear both of their voices throughout。 The integration of Louise Penny’s mysteries into the political thriller maintained the tension, but softened the “press panic now” button by placing warm, authentic personal relationships as essential pieces of the plot。 Clearly, Clinton’s background Secretary of State, one who was often devalued, play the large part in this story。

More often than not it came across as Clinton trying to prove how smart she is and how much goes into the Secretary of State job。 Girl we don’t want your old gig, stop trying to outsmart us。Thank you for listening。 Clinton, I hope you have let Louise Penny out of the hostage situation。 Also pls do not write another one of these。 。。。more

You take HRC whom you have to admit knows as much about world geopolitics as just about anybody, let her dream up a story which may be prescient and certainly is plausible, then throw her together with a talented writer like Louise Penny, and you have one Hell of a thriller。 Highly recommended。
